Rob Henderson, Trenton, NJ – 2017

Rob once told me that he learned drums on the streets and called his style of playing “street style.” He’s not classically trained in drumming, but he has more spirit than any other drummer I have experienced. Because of his lack of classical training, he sets his drum kit up in somewhat of an unusual way. The crash and ride cymbals are kept low down near the snare. He keeps his arms down low, and as he plays, they fan out over the kit in beautifully relaxed movements. His is an incredibly natural style of playing, and it illustrates how at home he feels behind the drums.
